Hi,

My name is Graeme and i am new to metal detecting.  I am totally hooked already.  February I bought a minelab go find 44 and March I have upgraded to a garret 400 i.

I have had some good funds already.

I would be intersted in joining organized days or meeting up with other members.  Currently my metal detecting education is from YouTube.

I am in Amanzimtoti and JHB fruently.

I have been fortunate to get some great funds to the Netherlands recently.

Where are the best places in south Africa to detect?
Thanks

Paul van Heerden

Welcome to the forum!!

Generally you just gotta hit parks and beaches. I also do some historical research about the area I am in and try hit those areas too.

What's the best way to clean these old coins. These were dated 1850

Some people soak old copper coins in olive oil or so i read. I have never tried this before, What i do in general is to just soak my old copper coins in hot water to soften the dirt and then clean them with a tooth pick and a soft brush.
