“Elephant Gun” Musket ball?

  • on: September 27, 2019, 01:48 PM
Hi all, I have found now more than one shot +/- 40mm “musket” ball close to Louis Trichardt. This particular one is in the best shape (didn’t strike anything hard so could get some measurements).
The area was known for the Elephant Ivory trade, thus believe it must be from a “Voorlaaier”.
Any ideas or thoughts on what kind of guns we used that shot these large lead balls?

I'm not too sure what it is.....but do you even get guns that shoot large balls like that? What are the dimensions?
