Hi all. On my way home today i noted that some of the grass has been cut at Lady Selborn. I picked up my AT Pro at home and headed for a short hunt at lady selborn in one of the fields that has been hunted hard in the past by many metal detectors. I did not find any coins today but did find a nice old brooch, 2x medals in one hole a first for me some buckles a very small coper locket and some bits and pieces.

Cheers and Happy Hunting :)

Brendon, what medallion is that? The date is the day SA became RSA but thats all I know. Is it plated bronze? I went to an open veld not far from home today and also got one!

Those medals are somewhat common. As far as I remember they were for the Queens visit to South Africa

Hi. Nice find on the medal. Those medals are a somewhat common find in certain areas like Paul stated but always nice to find. The one you found is a 1961. The other medals are the royal visit 1947 and the  not so common find royal crowning which is a 1937 if i am not mistaken. There is also the great  voortrekker trek medal. Only 3 of them has been found at Lady Selborn

Cheers and Happy Hunting :)
