Equipment and Gear / Re: Minelab Equinox Review

Paul is right, i got so excited what the the 600 offers, same recovery performance as the 800 and totally forgot about the dual gold mode, besides specific inland prospecting we all know that a standard and retarded recovery speed of say an Excalibur II metal detector picks up those gold goodies on the beach & coins inland, yes we would all would like to own the Garrett ATX or Minelab CTX 3030 but most of us can only afford once at half those prices, the Equinox provides that updated wireless comfort feature with panache -it would be nice if Minelab incorporated the Z-link pinpointer connection as well.

In my opinion, the 600 is pretty much all you need unless you want to do gold prospecting and be able to change the backlight intensity

When i received my Nox it came with the WM08 wireless module (lower latency than bluetooth) and a pair of headphones with 3.5mm jack cable.
Yes you have to charge the phones with mini USB jack but didn't think further believing this is the internal phone amplifier, only to realise a month later the jack cable is only needed if the HP batt is flat -headphones are wireless no cable needed, so the WM08 module is a bonus pro device supplied for whatever headset you choose to use! -this means 3 link frequency Bluetooth/Wi-Stream & aptX speed options, comparable to Z-link ?
Looking again at the marketplace realised Minelab done something very technically smart releasing the Equinox in two 'same performance' versions, progressive all round including bluetooth convenience, also bringing that performance from higher end systems down to a more attractive price at only 1.34kg carry weight.
From internet reviews didn't take much for me to choose the 800 believing i needed that edge over the 600, i now find myself convincing others the 600 would be their correct choice to start the hobby in pro mode without having to reinvest again in their lifetime.
Besides the 800 having higher resolution in some modes compared to the 600 both models are technically the same in respect, the 800 is packaged with the wireless WM08 module and wireless headphones for comfort preference and the 600 shares the same advanced link & sensitivity parameters, therefore side by side these models offer identical recovery performance, Minelab have certainly produced new performance with these two models.
