Hi All

I am hoping someone will be able to help find out what this is, it was found in the tidal zone of Cape Recief in Port Elizabeth, I found it in knee deep water and dead low spring tide. The artifact is bronze and is literally the size and shape of a poppy. The historian from the Port Elizabeth museum suggested it way be the top of a naval commanders swagger stick, I can't see that possible as after cleaning the artifact it has inscriptions on it that seem to be in reverse as though this may have been a punch of sorts. The inscriptions that I can make out are "silver" "Biatec" and then on the rounded sides I can see the symbols for Alpha and Omega. If anyone could shed some light on this or possibly steer me in the direction of someone who might be able to, I have sent images to the University of Pretoria's history department and they are stumped.

Thanks guys and happy hunting.
P.s will post some of my other finds soon.

Equipment and Gear / Re: Minelab Equinox 800 vs Safari
« Last post by Paul van Heerden on June 12, 2019, 08:41 AM »
I would go for the Equinox if it were me. The equinox has their battery in the handle, and apparently it can be replaced, but has to be sent in for it to be done.

Equipment and Gear / Minelab Equinox 800 vs Safari
« Last post by Regy on June 11, 2019, 05:11 PM »
Hi, I am looking to buy either the Equinox 800 or the Safari.
I am not going to really go beach hunting or use it underwater.
Mainly will use it to look for relics inland.
Weight & price aside, what would you recommend?
I cannot find info if the Equinox have a replaceable battery & if it can ever get replaced if needed?
Will appreciate your thoughts.

General Discussion / Re: Magnet fishing

I've been shopping around and found a local supplier https://modernmagnetics.co.za/

Their prices are super competitive and won't necessarily break the bank.

Once I done some 'fishing' I'll post my finds.
