General Discussion / NB!! Don't throw away damaged guilded buttons
« Last post by George on December 04, 2019, 12:19 PM »
I knew this for a while but it never occurred to me that your collection of these dome'd gold gilded buttons could grow substantially..
This applies to almost all these type of design buttons, both the large coat/pocket buttons and the smaller "minni" versions of them

None of the ones I have found had ever had visible guild.. I started collecting gold recyclable circuitry on the side.. and I wondered about these..

I have several badly smashed ones.. I undid the dome cap from the base.. The part of the base that was protected by the dome revealed a beautiful gold gilded rim..

It's not going to make you rich but it could add to your recycle bin if you do keep one.. and the gild I think is slightly thicker than modern plating..
The rust might also have held on to the guild a little so don't clean them if you are going to send them to be refined.

Hi there everyone! Is there any way that you can try and identify the date or era of old horseshoes? Found one about 10cm deep in an area with rich history,  dating back to about 1870's, but not sure if this shoe also dates back to that time...

Found this with what looks to be a 9ct gold earing. 1988 the Yamaha Electone festival was held in Paris, France. The 25th year of the festival. I found a list of finalist and the ultimate award winner but none of the names from South africa. Found this on a sidewalk of a know old park. Made in Japan, taveled to Paris, ultimately found in South Africa. LOL.

Thanks for the advice. I ended up going with the T2 after some youtube reviews. I think it will serve its purpose for what we are intending to start with.

Thanks.

Other option, the Minelab Go-Find series are great for kids, they really light and fold up small and compact.

Really good machines for the price but they do battle a bit with the wet sand and in the salt water, you would need to reduce sensitivity a lot in those areas which will result in loss of depth.

Will be great on land, on the dry sand at beach and fresh water (coil waterproof).
