Hi all

Are there any refineries in South Africa that one could sell minerals (e.g. gold scraps/ rings) to?

Thanks
Matthew

No, not that I know of. The best places to sell to are manufacturing jewelry shops, and pawn shops that specialise in gold, silver etc. I have a pawn shop here that has excellent prices for scrap gold

Here in Nam you'll be lucky if you get 20-30% of spot-price....
I've taken the bits 'n pieces, given it to goldsmith to make new ring/design..
Labour = 3k
Scrap gold and ice circa 15k
Finished ring valuation = 53k (retail value which is always very inflated though)
Consider the above for value-addition to your scrap gold....(TIP-NB: NEVER show the missus the new ring, it will NOT be sold on...ask me!!)
cheers :)
