Selling my Minelab Equinox 800 R14K

  • on: March 15, 2019, 12:58 PM
Hi

Life happened again. I have to give up my favorite toy.

Been used for about 5 hunts. Had it's firmware upgraded.
All the other extras have been tested but they are practically unused and still in the box.

The item will be wiped down and re boxed and couriered to your door.

They are going for 14.5K new at the moment, so I think unfortunately that you might be expecting to get too much out of this sale. Selling it for 10k might be more reasonable

Where can you get them for 14K? - everywhere I've seen they go for 17,500 new.

Sorry Clarence and George. I am thinking of the 600. You are correct in that the 800 is a lot more expensive. In my opinion though, if you aren't going to be doing gold prospecting, the 600 is going to serve you just as well as the 800.

Something else I noticed recently - the way they explain it on the Minelab website it sounds like you even get all the same frequencies when in multi frequency mode, it's just that you can't select the 20/40 to use as single frequencies on the 600. So basically it's the same machine in that sense unless I'm reading it incorrectly. I think you're right i.e. it won't even matter for most people but I think Minelab plays the psychology game on us feature hungry-folk to get us to buy the 800  ;D

Everything regarding the frequencies are the same on both machines. It is just the gold/prospecting option that isn't there. With the 800 you get the wireless headphones, a backlight with more than one setting, gold prospecting mode, slightly more options for customising, and an option for saving a group of settings that you use often.

It is pretty much the same machine. Download the manual and you will see near the back of the 60-odd page doc a table with the differences between the two. In my mind, you don't need to get the 800 if you don't want to.

I'm glad to announce.. I don't have to let my baby go. Other arrangements have worked out regarding my broken car.. Yay!!!!

This is a true performing 3 in one detector. I hope I get to use the prospecting mode somewhere. Maybe hike out to a random dry stream that had never seen human litter.

It took a while to understand the machine. Just remember multi in none of the modes include 40khz.  My default hunting mode is stuck to 40 because the firmware patch made it solid for silver and lost nickel in almost all the ranges apart from 40khz.
