Hi guys:
I am back in SA for a few weeks. Normally I come down Jan-April, but couldn't make it this year as I am starting some new businesses in Canada.
I have been out a few times and did find a couple of golds but it was really difficult to find them, even using the absolute best gear. I have never seen such flat, featureless beaches down here. Just meters of new sand.
I did run across a guy named Jimmy on Uvongo beach yesterday. Said he was from Durban. He was using a CTX with a 17" coil, and not having any luck either. I brought my own CTX/17 and also haven't found much with it.
I decided I to sell my house down here and consolidate everything back to Canada. As much as I love South Africa and in spite of my long family history here (South African great grandparents, grandparents, and Mom), I just don't see a future in South Africa for me. There was a time I applied for South African citizenship even, a process that was supposed to take 6 weeks. It has been 10 years since I applied for my SA citizenship by descent and I haven't heard back yet. My application is probably still in a pile on someones desk I guess.
In any case, if any of you are looking for the most amazing beach house on the South Coast, mine is going on the market this week. I have built a page here so you can see what my house is about, and links will be added to the real estate broker listing when she gives me to them. In the meantime, go to:
https://glenmorebeach.com It is the home my family designed and built, and those of you who have seen it know how solid and spectacular it is. It would be the perfect place for inlanders to get away to the coast to treasure hunt.
Anyway, hopefully I will find more to post here this trip.
Happy hunting!
